Deja Vu all over again...

The rains have finally stopped and we are again experiencing more summer-like weather. I'd like to be able to say that I've been on several trips out since my last post, but I can't. As so many of you know, sometimes family obligations take precedence over things like fishing or blogging.

My step-daughter went into the hospital earlier in the week with a staph infection in her heart. While running tests and pumping her full of antibiotics, they determined that she has a heart valve that isn't functioning. And for my wife, it's like deja vu all over again. Stephanie will be having surgery on her heart as soon as they knock out the infection.

So please bear with me if the lights are out for a while here at Windknots & Tangled Lines. I'll be back.

  7. Damn, Howard! They say these bad things happen in 3's...is this number 3? Hopefully it is so you can just get on with getting on.

Luckily, those valve operations are so advanced now. Had a very good friend just get his valve replaced for the second time. I think he went with a bovine one - amazing that a cow can not only feed us but share parts that work with our parts.

Keeping her and you in my thoughts

    1. Hey Nick, thanks. I don't know much about valve replacements except I know they use bovine parts. I wonder what happens if she's vegan?

    1. Well, I'm still waiting for a report from the doctors on whether they are going to have to operate. This is the same hospital I was in around Christmas. I haven't been able to force myself to go yet.
